R. I. F.

A good friend told me this one time and I was super confused. So this post is for you Autumn. To clarify, Reading Is Fundamental. I think we were having a conversation and I was being shady trying to read a tweet and was chopping and screwing all the 140 characters up. And I just remember Autumn saying, “Reading is fundamental!”. In my mind I was like, ya know I can tell the way you just read me, ma’am! She meant no harm, but the way we get along it was understood. For everyone out there, if you open the library, make sure your card catalog is up to date because you never know when you might have to wretch into section AA.123 and check someone. Also, be careful on which libraries you visit. If you get caught up with someone who speed reads or knows how to use context clues, you might be in for a treat.  Not a rice crispy treat though.  One last thing, always have extra copies of your best reads. Some people like to return items late and you have to let repeat offenders know that this isn’t a game. If you keep extra copies everyone receives the same read and you remain consistent. That’s one thing I try to do. So if you’re ready, come on over. In 2017 the library will begin an R. I. F. club. Let me know if you want to join! 🙂
